The Kathleen Cramer Cup and Tide Trophy

During halftime of the Homecoming game, the UA Homecoming Board will award The Kathleen Cramer Cup for the Crimson division. The Committee will also award teams of students or student orgs during the Pep Rally and Bonfire with less than 100 members who are participating in the Tide Division with the Tide Trophy.

The Kathleen Cramer Cup, renamed by The Board of Trustees in honor of Dr. Kathleen Cramer and her impact and lasting impression on UA’s campus life, will be given annually to the Student organization with more than 100 members that exhibits the most pride, spirit, and excitement during the week of Homecoming.

The Tide Trophy, established in 2018, is awarded annually to the Student organization with less than 100 members that exhibits the most pride, spirit and excitement during the week of Homecoming.

Spirit Points

Spirit points will be awarded for events included in the Crimson Division and Tide Division Competition.

Eligible Events

Points will be awarded for participation as well as placing in each event. Individual awards will be given for first, second and third place. Roll Tide Run, Lawn Decorations and Homecoming Parade are required events in the Crimson Division.

Spirit Points Grading System

Scoring for both the Crimson and Tide Division will be based off judging rubrics, which will be provided at the mandatory meeting and/or as a part of the official Red Book. Point values found on this website will stand as official in any dispute of points allocated or discrepancies in total possible.

Infraction Questions and Reporting

For any questions regarding the rules or to report a rule infraction, please email the Director of Rules and Regulations at uahomecoming@ua.edu. In order for an infraction to be investigated, concrete proof must be submitted. Photos or some other form of support of your claim are required as proof. Submissions that are found to have been fabricated will be penalized. The penalties are as follows:

  • First rule infraction: 50 points
  • Second rule infraction: 100 points
  • Third rule infraction: 150 points
  • Disregard penalty: 150 points
  • Unregistered participation: 100 points

Additional Penalty Points

Penalty for leaving posters or any debris at events: five points per poster, decoration, prop, or team identifying item.

Disqualification

Guidelines regarding disqualification can be found in rules for each specific event or can be administratively levied for any violation of the participation contract.
