Hannah Adams
Senior from Birmingham, AL majoring in Political Science and Public Relations with a minor in Public Policy (Shelby Institute for Policy & Leadership)
My name is Hannah Adams, and I am a senior from Birmingham, AL double-majoring in Political Science and Public Relations on the CREATE Path to MBA. I am very honored to be running to become the 2024 Homecoming Queen. Over the past three years as a student, I have developed a deep love and appreciation for the University of Alabama. From pursuing dual degrees, running my own non-profit, and collaborating with various university organizations, my hope is to connect with all students and inspire them to have hearts of service. As a proud fourteen-year cancer survivor, I have made a lifelong commitment to raising awareness and funding about pediatric cancer by speaking about the importance of research, recognition, hope, and passion. I support pediatric cancer families, advocate for policy, and fundraise for research with multiple non-profits. However, my work is not finished as I could make a further impact by supporting the UA American Cancer Society On Campus Gold Together for Childhood Cancer team through the Homecoming Queen Endowed Impact Fund. It would be the greatest honor to make an impact on the university in this role and have your utmost support. Please join me to #HopewithHannah on myBama from 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. on October 22!

If given the honor to serve as the University of Alabama Homecoming Queen, I would use my platform to ensure that every student knows that there is a place for them here. Regardless of what a student may be going through, or where they come from, everyone has the opportunity to become a leader and grow through challenging times. I would embody the values of service and leadership by utilizing the Homecoming Queen Endowed Impact Fund to give back to the Tuscaloosa community through the organizations housed in the Center for Service and Leadership. The CSL has allowed me to find my “home away from home” on campus, and has helped me through some of the most challenging times of my life. I want every student to feel the sense of community and love that Tuscaloosa has to offer, and give back to the community that makes our school so great!

Being a representative of the University of Alabama is something I've had the honor to enjoy throughout all of my time here as a student-athlete on the women's rowing team. Serving as the UA Homecoming Queen would be an incredible opportunity to continue this and share an organization I am very passionate about with even more people, the National Marrow Donation Program (NMDP). NMDP, formerly known as Be the Match, is the leading organization in matching recipients of bone marrow and blood stem cell transplants with a viable match to save their lives. My past work with NMDP has involved assisting with swabbing drives to get more people on the registry to potentially save a life. Blood cancer and disorders have impacted my family and loved ones several times, and I have gotten to experience firsthand the impact of NMDP through this organization matching my uncle with someone for a bone marrow transplant. A simple cheek swab can be the first step to saving someone's life, and I would love to share this cause with more members of Alabama's campus and the Tuscaloosa community.

My candidacy for the University of Alabama Homecoming Queen is driven by a deep passion for service, leadership, and the opportunity to represent our diverse and dynamic student body. The values that define the role—service, leadership, scholarship, and character—are ones that I have strived to embody throughout my time at UA, and being Homecoming Queen would allow me to amplify these values to a wider audience. I have worked hands-on with the University of Alabama Food Pantry during my time on campus. I’ve seen firsthand the critical need for a food pantry to support students facing food insecurity. As Homecoming Queen, I would use the Endowed Impact Fund to contribute to the expansion of this service, helping to provide access to healthy food options for our students in need. With greater access to adequate resources to meet basic needs, students can focus on their academic success. By focusing on the food pantry, I aim to help remove barriers to academic success and well-being, creating a more equitable campus for all. The Homecoming Queen platform would allow me to not only raise awareness about this issue but to also drive real, lasting change for the UA community.
