The University of Alabama is buzzing with excitement as we enter a new era in our football program. With a fresh head coach stepping in after Nick Saban’s legendary 17-season tenure, the anticipation is palpable. Though Saban’s presence will be missed, the thrill of new beginnings is in the air as we look forward to seeing what this year’s team and coaching staff will achieve.
In light of these changes, the Homecoming Executive Board sought to reflect this spirit of renewal in this year’s homecoming theme. Initially, they proposed “New Era, Same Dream,” but after consulting with Ryan Bradley, Vice President for Strategic Communications, the theme evolved into “New Era, Same Standard.”
Bradley drew inspiration from Coach DeBoer’s address to students at his first basketball game appearance, where he declared, “Alabama is the Standard,” a sentiment that resonated powerfully with the audience. DeBoer has consistently emphasized that “the standard doesn’t change,” a message that has struck a chord with fans and the community alike.
Thus, the 2024 Homecoming Theme proudly stands as “New Era, Same Standard,” perfectly encapsulating the blend of tradition and fresh energy that defines Alabama’s spirit. As we celebrate homecoming, we honor our storied past while eagerly embracing the future.
